Musical Director Muriel Corkish started her
musical career at the age of 7 with Miss Mavis Kelly. On leaving school
Muriel went to London and continued her musical studies at the Royal College
of Music where she studied singing with Gordon Clinton, who was then the
Principal of Birmingham School of Music and Piano with John Russell. When she returned home to
live Muriel began to teach piano and singing and has done so for many years.
She also continued to sing solo at the Guild (Manx Music Festival) for many
years. Muriel took over the 'baton'
of the Glenfaba Ladies Choir and Chorale in November 1976 from her mother Mrs
Susie Curphey - a difficult act to follow! In 2006 she was instrumental
in forming the Glenfaba Male Voice Choir. |
